GBP/NZD: Hawkish BoE Against a Broken Kiwi — Spike Pullback Swing Setup (Nov 5, 2026)
GBP/NZD Long — buying the spike pullback in a one-way trend
Two central banks are moving in opposite directions, and both moved this week. In Wellington, the Reserve Bank surprised with a hold last Wednesday and then watched yesterday’s jobs report break: unemployment at an eleven-year high, the hiking path extinguished, the kiwi pressed to fresh lows. In London, the Bank of England decides today with a hike almost fully priced after the hottest CPI in the cycle — and markets already debating a second move in December. Sterling is the strongest non-dollar major in the crosses; the kiwi is the weakest currency on the board. Their cross has trended higher for three months, spiked to new cycle highs on the jobs shock, and is now taking a breather exactly where buyers should want it — back at the breakout shelf.
