CHF/JPY: Failed Breakout Rolls Back Into the Range — Yen-Strength Swing Setup (Oct 23, 2026)
CHF/JPY Short — fading the franc’s failed breakout back into the range
Japan’s core inflation topped the Bank of Japan’s 2% target this morning for the first time since December — and this time the yen actually moved, leading the majors. The BoJ hiked in September to 1.25%, a December follow-up is ~80% priced, and Governor Ueda keeps saying the bank will continue to raise rates. Against that stands the only major central bank at zero: the SNB cut to 0% in June and still leans on verbal intervention to weaken its currency. Last Friday the franc spiked on safe-haven flows from the oil escalation — and the breakout has already failed: a full week of lower highs has carried the pair back inside its month-long range, right back to where sellers reloaded in September. The retest of that broken shelf is the trade.
