GBP/NZD Long — buying the sterling dip into the October shelf
New Zealand’s trade deficit widened to nearly NZ$2 billion in September — more than double what economists expected — adding another hard-data crack to what is already the weakest major currency in price action: the RBNZ sits at a 2.75% OCR with inflation-forced hikes into an economy with sluggish growth and unemployment at 5.6% and rising. Sterling tells the opposite story: a Bank of England holding at 3.75% with growth back on track. GBP/NZD has trended higher for three months, and Friday’s dip carried it back to the shelf that launched the October leg — that shelf is where we want to be a buyer, not a chaser of the high.
