NZD/USD Short — fading the kiwi’s bounce into the reaction shelf
New Zealand’s labour market just broke: unemployment jumped to an eleven-year high in Q3, with jobs and hours falling — a hard miss that extinguishes what was left of the RBNZ’s hiking path. It is the second blow in a week for the kiwi, after the central bank’s surprise hold last Wednesday against a near-certain priced hike: the same bank that shocked dovish now has an economy that cannot pay for hikes at all. The currency slid on the print, pressing to fresh multi-week lows, and the morning bounce is exactly what a fading rally looks like — the shelf where sellers reloaded all week is overhead. That retest is the trade.
